HOLY COW WHAT A SUMMER!

So, it's dawned on me in the last couple of weeks that I've not updated my blog in some time. Unfortunately, within the last couple of weeks, we have had our last camping expedition of the summer, gone on a day-long field trip to follow some of the Lewis and Clark trail, had two birthday parties and a house-full of guests for our middle child's celebrations, and finished our Foster Care planning, and tried to catch up on our gardening. It's been a seriously tasking week.

SO, with that, here are the highlights from our wonderful summer!

Some things we did this summer...

Lost some teeth...

...took a trip to the ER...

...did a Lewis and Clark study...

....convinced the dads to help with our Lewis and Clark study....

...went to the State Fair!

...went on some AWESOME camping trips...

...got rained on...

...had some amazing meals...

...with some amazing friends...

...tried out some science experiments best meant for the yard...

...made our first compost bin...

...did some fishing!

...and some more fishing...

...had a few fights...

...made our first batch of butter...

...learned to mow the grass for the first time...

...HAD VBS!!!

...saw some incredible insects...

...had two ear surgeries....

...lost....and then found a snake in the car...

...socialized the dogs...

...made some silly things...

....did some MORE fishing...

...started our garden...

...tended our garden...

...tended to the garden some more...

...started another garden...

...watched our garden grow...

...and grow...

...and grow...

...and grow....

...and grow...

...and enjoyed being a family.

Here's to hoping your summer was as fruitful (literally) and fun as ours. Much love from our home to yours!

I love looking at our re-cap of our summer together! lets do it again shall we?
http://www.organicgardening.com/ at the bottom of this page is a cool cheap idea to make a compost pile for our garden-I'm thinking since we live out here, we're going to need a much bigger composting pile-we've pretty much filled up the one you brought out here-I know it's not decomposing now either, but still, I still see a need for a bigger one-using pallets held in by fence posts or rectangular hay bales! how easy is that!
I'm getting excited to start our garden! :)
