So, for those that don't know, through the spring and summer months, we have been contemplating moving. We will be staying in the same community, but moving off of the Air Force Base we live on, and out into the country. This week, I got word from the bank that we are pre-approved for our home loan and can move ahead with getting the appraisal done.
We're looking forward to beginning a journey I like to call, "The Misadventures of First Year Homesteading".
In the span of this summer, I have learned to can vegetables, make jelly, make butter, use my bread machine, grow a large scale organic garden, and compost. I'm hoping that our future misadventures include chickens, horses, a jersey cow, and perhaps some other random creatures helpful to our health.
Until moving day, we have a lot to do. Repairs need to be made on our current home in order to turn it back over to our housing office, scaling down on unnecessary items must be done, finishing our garden and canning must be accomplished...the list goes on.
So, pray for us. It will be a busy fall. And an even busier one if we end up with any foster children in the meantime.
And, the school year has begun! One thing I'm eternally thankful for: AWANAS! While my children are soaking up the Word of God, my husband and I get to go on dates. A weekly need in the middle of all our hectic schedules.
